Multiple entry parent visa for an offshore Filipino parent

[PARENT] is the long-term partner of [Applicant A], a Filipino steel fixer working in New Zealand, and the mother of their adult son [SPONSOR], who holds a New Zealand permanent resident visa. With her son settled here, [PARENT] wanted a parent and grandparent multiple entry visitor visa so she could visit her family for long stays over several years, instead of re-applying for short visits each time. She had previously held a general visitor visa, and the family wanted to put her on a footing that matched the genuine, ongoing connection to New Zealand.

We lodged the application with a full sponsorship and ties bundle: the sponsorship form and declaration; the son’s permanent resident visa approval and employment agreement; his income summaries, property title, rates notices and travel insurance to show he could support and house his mother. When Immigration New Zealand asked for a fresh medical and chest x-ray, we arranged new health checks and provided the results, with extra radiology, within the timeframe. We also wrote to Immigration New Zealand promptly to correct the date-of-birth entry so the record matched her passport and avoided any identity concern.

The multiple entry parent visa was granted, allowing entry through to late 2027 with stays of up to six months at a time. It gives the family a stable, multi-year footing to visit their son in New Zealand without repeated short-stay applications.

A sponsored parent visa lives or dies on the strength of the sponsor evidence, so the sponsor’s income, property and a clear undertaking to house and support the visitor should be assembled in full at lodgement rather than left for later. Immigration medical and chest x-ray certificates can lapse if no application is accepted within the first three months, so their validity should be checked before lodging and fresh checks arranged the moment they are asked for. Any data error, such as a date of birth that does not match the passport, should be corrected in writing as soon as it is noticed, because a clean and consistent record avoids any avoidable identity concern. And where the family connection is genuine and ongoing, a multiple entry parent visa is a far better long-term fit than repeated short visits.
